i removed the harddrive out of a laptop and placed into another machine and copied the files accross as i normally would. The original os was either vista or windows 7 cant check atm. I now want to copy the files back onto the laptops harddrive as now it has a fresh install of windows. THE PROBLEM IS THO THAT ALL THE FOLDERS ARE INTACT BUT NOT ONE FILE INSIDE ANY OF THE FOLDERS. This is the case for Vista or XP it shows that space has been used but absolutely no files. The permissions are set to show all hidden files and folders and unstoppable copier completed succesfully. Please help with any suggestions. Perhaps there is a utility that can help (apologies for repeat request as i posted this in bug reports previously)

The only thing i can think of on this one is the files either have security (user) permissions set so the current user is unable to see them. I guess its possible the drives file system has been written with a differnet version of the file system (FAT32 or NTFS of a later version etc) so the OS doesnt understand them. Not really what to suggest on this one other than check permissions or try it in a machine with the latest Windows version on it?
