so my dad just gave me his inspiron 2600, and i knew it had problems, so i tried to reformat the hard drive. its been one error after another. i ran a diskwipe from a boot disk, tried both ntfs and fat32 formats, and have run several diagnostics and scandisks, but it always seems to be tring to wite over bad sectors. now its saying the partition is having compatability issues. someone please tell me youve fixed this problem b4!

Give precise details on what you actually did if you want a reliable answer.
Assuming you did manage to properly format your HDD (twice!), if you still can't use it, I can only suggest you replace it.
