You could of course ZIP this image up for later use but it will be very large.. Not really sure what i can suggest is the best way to go about this.. on older version of windows like 98 you could use unstoppable copier and just copy all the files and permissions to another place and copy them back.. XP has made things a bit more tricky!
If you do the image let me know how it goes!
Cheers

this is ok i think.
i just set up my system completely new and then install all the service packs and programms that i need.
then i would store this very big image on an external hdd...so space is not that problem - my question is how to launch this image if i have a system crash.
ive made myself an ultimate boot cd for win xp
http://www.ubcd4win.com/ but i dont know how to could launch the image.
thank u

Let me know if you need more information!
Cheers :) |

Look into "BartPE" as a boot device. Its fairly small (under 100meg) and will run off a USB stick if your motherboard supports it. It doesnt effect your system at all, it runs totally off the stick. have a copy of roadkil's image tool on there, and you should be good to go.
You can format the HDD (C:\) from the BartPE system, and then just image everything back. Hope this helps.
PS: you owe me a beer roady, for answering questions. |
