XP Logo starts but a blue screen apears and my laptop tries to boot again, and again. I believe this problem was caused by a virus and the boot sector is damaged. I have tried to recover by using the original Win XP CD but it does not work.

BootBuild seems the right tool. How can I use it to enable boot from a disk-on-key and recover the boot sector on my C drive which probabely was damaged.

Thanks,
Tal

The DOS program fdisk has an option to write a standard master boot record. If you create a boot floppy (or usb) with fdisk on it:-
run 'fdisk /mbr'

Note quote from Microsoft:-

This program is written to the disk by the fdisk /mbr command and is usually called the master boot record. During typical operation, Fdisk writes this program to the disk only if there is no master boot record.

NOTE: The fdisk /mbr command only re-writes the MBR on the system drive (DISK-0) using BIOS calls. You cannot specify any other drive for the fdisk /mbr command to operate on other than DISK-0

This might fix your problem
