Sacramento, CA | | DiskWipe 1.2 is a big improvement over 1.1, in that it gives some information about each drive in the drop-down menu, so I no longer have to worry that I'm about to wipe my working hard drive. But there's one other thing I'd like to see.
The percent complete figure at the bottom gives the percentage of the current pass it's on, but it doesn't say which pass it's currently running. So when I'm doing seven passes (my usual, since we have confidential data to protect), I'm never sure how far it is along. So when I'm asked for an estimate as to how much longer it's going to take, I can never get a good answer.
Can we get it to show which pass is currently running? |

UK | | Thanks for a great program - it's unbelievable how difficult it is to find a simple secure disk wiper that is free and runs within Windows.
My one feature request is an option to verify the writes, perhaps verifying every write on the final pass by reading it back, or just verifying every 1000th write or similar. This would give confidence that the disk is actually being wiped, and not failing due to bad sectors or faulty controllers, etc.
The disk I am currently wiping is already formatted so there's no easy way to confirm it has worked before I sell the disk.
Hopefully this is possible? It would make this software perfect :) |
