my ntldr is missing, and that isnt the only problem i think most of the winxp files is missing also. i dont have the original winxp cd so what would i do

Think you really need the windows XP CD for this one unfortuantely.. even if it was just ntldr you normally use the "Fixboot" command on the XP disk to repair that error and then copy the NTLDR across again..

SOrry i dont have a simple solution!

i have a iso burned copy of xp that wont boot (from my knowledge) but works in a functional laptop, so what would i do in this instant , and what the best way to boot from another hard drive

Perhaps download a bootable disk image from www.bootdisk.com and image a floppy etc. These images ususally have CD drivers so you can access your drive in DOS mode then run the setup/fix.

Another option is get FreeDOS from www.freedos.org and install that on a USB stick etc and boot the system up with it to do your repairs..
