...is exactly what happened and why data recovery could not even begin in Win7 64 bit on dell laptop usb connected to corrupted wd 500g hdd. Attempt to open user name folder froze everything until I stopped Unstoppable 5.2 with task manager. Thanks in advance for any feedback

Freezing some times happens with Unstoppable Copier when the hard disk has stopped responding to the system. If you unplug the USB hard disk did the system start to respond again?
