Ultima 17 July 2009 | Feature Requests | Unstoppable Copier - Completely disable shell inte I seek a way to completely disable shell integration within Unstoppable Copier 4.x. It sounds like an odd request, but for me, here is how Unstoppable copier is used:
Using a flash drive, I will usually copy (NOT install) Unstoppable Copier to the desktop or the machine I will run it from, then I use it to copy the entire documents and settings folder or users folder to an external HDD.
The difficulty with 4.1 for meis that it will always install the windows shell integration when it is launched, from what I\'ve seen (I have not tried it on a customer\'s machine due to this) which will cause a problem when Unstoppable copier is deleted from the computer, as the shell integration remains.
I also sometimes do run it from my flash drive too, depending if I need the drive to do other things or not.
Why not make it so that the installer program sets up the shell integration rather than unstoppable copier itself? That would fix the problem outright. That way, if you install Unstoppable Copier, you will have shell integration, but if you just copy it from a flash drive or such, you won\'t. Other possible options would be to have it detect the presence of a file in the same directory and alter its behavior that way. |
